Who we are

The Somaliland Human Rights Monitoring Group (SHRMG) is an independent human-rights monitoring, documentation, research and advocacy initiative. Its work focuses on Somaliland. According to the organization's founding statement, SHRMG was established on 15 March 2026.

SHRMG monitors and documents human-rights developments in Somaliland, with particular attention to freedom of expression, arbitrary arrest and detention, the administration of justice, and accountability for reported violations.

The website publishes organizational statements. A research report appears in the library only after an editor publishes it. SHRMG is independent of political parties and government bodies. This site does not list registration certificates, funders, offices, partnerships or staff. Those details have not been approved for publication here.
